UNITED left it late before securing a valuable victory against 10-man Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

The Club World Cup winners enjoyed longs spells of possession but had to wait until the 83rd minute for the breakthrough when Carlos Tevez found the net from close range. Stoke had defender Andy Wilkinson sent off in the 72nd minute for a second bookable offence and the Reds managed to take advantage.
