Stoke 0 Man Utd 1
UNITED left it late before securing a valuable victory against 10-man Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
The Club World Cup winners enjoyed longs spells of possession but had to wait until the 83rd minute for the breakthrough when Carlos Tevez found the net from close range. Stoke had defender Andy Wilkinson sent off in the 72nd minute for a second bookable offence and the Reds managed to take advantage. United were forced to make a late change with Jonny Evans replacing Rio Ferdinand who injured his back in the warm-up - he is expected to be out for around 10 days - and they struggled to get their game together in the first half.
Sorensen again had to look alert in the 57th minute following a 25-yard snap shot from Scholes. Neville started the move and delivered the ball into the area where Berbatov controlled it with ease. He played it on to Tevez, who scored only his second league goal of the campaign, at the back post.
Overall, it was a tough game because when a team just want run out with a draw we have to put effort beyond a hill to score a goal. Coward Stoke beaten.
